How to model and build a hollow torus (doughnut) using Plotz, the HTML5 modeller for Minecraft. Your torus model can be up to 256 blocks diameterand the ring can be any thickness (equal width and height diameters) up to half the overall diameter. This page will guide you on how to use Plotz. You can launch Plotz Minecraft Torus generator from the link below.

For Minecraft I wrote Plotz online voxel sphere generator to help people build hollow spheres made out of blocks in Minecraft. Using Plotz you can select the size of the sphere you want to build and see it on screen. You can then print out a schematic or use Plotz's on-screen step facility to see how the sphere is built layer by layer. Story Plot Generator: This is a powerful tool that can generate countless appealing story plots. We have collected more than 400,000 interesting story plots. These plots have a variety of styles, action, fantasy, romance, etc., each style you have can find countless story plots. Minecraft Circle Generator. Minecraft Circle Generator. Log InorSign Up. Using Plotz to make a Torus in Minecraft

Start Plotz Torus Generator by selecting the torus model from the Plotz model menu or launching from the link above. Adefault torus model be shown on screen. Resize your browser window or enter full screen mode if required. Plotz will resize to make use of the full screen.Tablet devices such as the iPad will be best in landscape as the torus model is always wider than it is tall.

Use the sliders at the bottom to control the torus diameter and thickness. As the thickness is limited to half the diameter, set your diameter first. The torus modelis quite fast to render but larger models may take longer. Altering precision may be required to get rid of square edges on end caps. Higher precision doesnot always product the best models so play around with this.

The number of blocks required to build the model in Minecraft is displayed in the top right.

To go back to the model menu use back in your browser or select the model name button at the top.

View any horizontal layer of your torus using the slider on the right. This works in both 2D and 3D modes. In 3D mode the layer shown is highlighted yellow. Dragging the slider to the top will leave the top layer highlighted. Use the + button to remove it.

Build each layer in Minecraft upwards from the bottom. Keep using the + button at the top of the layer slider to move up a layer.

The Zoom button cycles through 100%, 200% and 400%. While zoomed, pan the canvas by dragging it. Plotz saves graphics memory byupdating the display when you stop dragging.

Almost all models are symmetrical, so in 2D mode, simply zoom to the top / left quadrant and build that 4 times over for each layer. Foreach build just orient yourself 90° in Minecraft and repeat the sequence.

Particularly for larger models, 2D mode is arguably more useful when building. In this mode a layer of your model is displayed as a grid. Blocks are boldly colored while any blocks not obscured by the current layer and visible on the layer below appear ghosted. This helps positioning and buildchecking.

Block counts on both the inside and outside torus curves appear in the top left quadrant in 2D mode. Counts are colored groups of 5 (5 red, 5 green, 5 blue etc.).As previously mentioned, symmetry means most models simply require this quadrant to be built 4 times over.

Guide to generating hollow ellipsoids in Plotz modeller for Minecraft. Plotz can model ellipsoids of varying width, depth and height up to amaximum of 256 blocks in all dimensions. This page will give you all the information you need. You can then you can launch Plotz Minecraft Ellipsoid generator.

Using Plotz to make Ellipsoids in Minecraft

Ellispoids are great shapes for modelling buildings, domes, airships and more. You can start Plotz Ellipsoid Generator from the link above or select the ellipsoid model from the Plotz model menu. The initial screen shows an ellipsoid 64 blocks in height and 32 blocks width and depth. As the full with and height of the browser is always used you can resize your window or even enter full screen mode to make this most of this. When Plotzis running on tablet devices such as the iPad, it will redisplay on screen orientation change to portrait or landscape. When building a tall ellipsoid you may findportrait better and using landscape for models that are wider.

Alter the height, width and depth using the sliders along the bottom. Largermodels take longer to render and may display a progress window. The dimension sliders can be hidden using the << button and shown again byclicking/touching the values. Different levels of precision can be used to elimiate square edges on the model's end caps. A higher precision doesnot necessarily get the best results. Lower precisions render faster and may also be required on low memory devices to prevent render failure.

The top right number is the blocks required to build the model. Return to the model menu at any time by going back in your browser OR selecting the model name button at the top.

In both 2D and 3D view you can see a particular layer of your model using the right hand slider. In 3D mode the top layer shown is highlighted yellow.

Start building from layer 1, make that layer in Minecraft and then hit the + button to see the next layer and continue building upwards.

Dragging the layer slider to the top leaves the layer highlighted yellow. Select the + button to remove the highlight if required.

Unsurprisingly you can zoom using the zoom button which works in both 2D and 3D display modes. The zoom button cycles through200%, 400% and back to 100%.

While zoomed, drag the main canvas to pan around. Plotz saves graphics memory by only updating the display when youstop dragging.

As almost all models are symmetrical, zoom is particularly useful in 2D mode where you can zoom in to the top / leftquadrant and build it 4 times over to complete each layer.

Toggle between 3D and 2D mode with the top/left buttons. While 3D shows how a model will look, 2D mode is arguably more useful for actually building, especially for larger models.

In 2D mode a layer of your model is displayed as a 2D grid and axes split that grid in to 4 quadrants. Blocks are clearly displayed and any blocks not covered and on the layer below appear ghosted out which helps positioning and checking your build.
